No, this is not the same as my baked banana and peanut butter oatmeal. This is more breakfasty.
Hah one side got a bit puffy so it looked funny.
I'd missed eating with people.
In university, I live with 4 girls. We just all happened to end up in the same flat. We weren't really friends to begin with, and with different timetables, we just never eat together. It's also simply not plausible for 5 people to all be cooking in the kitchen at the same time. I had forgotten how much I missed eating with other people. Eating has a strong social aspect to it. Catching up with a friend, bonding with parents, meeting new people, business, pleasure, -- it's always over a meal. The experience with food is just so boring when it's not shared.
I've
been back for 3 days now and it's been just me and one of my flatmates,
Liza, in the house. We've been eating every meal together for 3 days now.
We don't even always eat the same thing, but it's nice to merely eat with someone. We cook our own things but in the same kitchen and then eat on the same table, and we chat and we cook and we eat, and the food's just better.
She had oatmeal and bananas the morning I had this.
serves 1
Ingredients
1/2 cup oats
1 cup milk
1 egg
2 tbsp peanut butter
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
a pinch of salt
1 tbsp sugar
Method
Preheat oven to 180C. Butter and flour a small ramekin.
Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
Mix the peanut butter and milk together and put in the microwave for half a minute. Whisk it together so that there are no more chunks of peanut butter. When cooled, whisk in the egg, and mix with the dry ingredients. Put in the ramekin and bake for 15-20 minutes or until browned.
